Letter of Intent

Letter of Intent
Avoyelles Public Charter School
201 Longfellow Rd.
Mansura, LA 71350

Dear Senior Project Committee:

The general area of interest I have is science and medical science. I choose this area of topics because I have always been interested in the human body and the way it works. After taking biology and biology II, I have learned many things in this area of studies. I have also had the privilege to be part of the Ahec program, where I spent a month shadowing doctors in a hospital and watch surgeries and procedures. My family works with long term care, so I already have a lot of insight on that part of health care.

I plan to shadow doctors and nurses and hopefully watch a surgery or two. It will not cost anything and will only take time out of my weekend or weekday. It will take place at Avoyelles Hospital and the dates I have gone so far are April 1st and April 7th, I will post the dates I go when I have permission. It is a stretch to my abilities because it will will expose me to acute care, which I am not used to.

My mentor for this project is Ms. Jessica Ravare, she is a RN at Avoyelles Hospital, she is also head of the AHec program, which is how I know her. She has taught me a lot from the Ahec program and in the little time that I have spent with her while I was shadowing. She will be the one whom I interview for information.

This project is a learning stretch for me because I already have knowledge with long term health care, but no knowledge of acute health care. My father is the administrator of Valley View Health Care Facility, which is a nursing home in Marksville. I have worked there since I was 15 doing paper work and sometimes helping CNA’s. I am trained to deal with patients who have dementiona and other disorders. A hospital setting will be new to me, the different departments of a hospital always have something going on and it is much more active than a nursing home. My understanding of plagiarism is when you take information from somewhere and not give the proper credit. I understand that if I plagiarize I will not receive credit and I will not graduate on time.

Sincerely,

Kennedy N. Caubarreaux
